Some thoughts about Batman #25
What is The War of Jokes and Riddles? The Joker has returned without a smile and The Riddle has found out that he can't solve a mystery. Now both will have to fight to find the solution of their problems.
Believe it or not, I actually liked this one.
Tom King finally delivers an actually competent chapter as a whole where there's barely anything to complaint about. The premise is focused on both The Joker and The Riddle and how they're dealing with their respective situations in their own way. The characterization is pretty solid with both villains being portrayed properly and receiving an interesting twist to their usual themes which make a lot of sense, not to mention that it gives a lot of respect to The Riddle at last.
Batman is of course important for the story and his presence is felt during the whole battle while the story escalates nicely towards the end which hopefully and finally will deliver an actual good conclusion.
Although I still don't understand why Bruce keeps calling Selina "Cat" even when they're naked.
Mikel Janin handles the artwork and he elevates the script even more with powerful storytelling that captures the nature of the villains perfectly.
Quite enjoyable, let's see how it goes.
