Can the Blue Beetle face the Dark Knight?

Batman has just arrived to El Paso to meet Jaime and see if he's able to be an actual good vigilante but Jaime might have other ideas about it.

Not bad overall but kinda cements how erratic this series has been as a whole.

Keith Giffen and J.M. DeMatteis deliver a new installment where they introduce Batman into the mix and the classic funny moments that you would expect occur. At times it seems like the writers potray unnecessarily serious and jerkish (which is not surprising considering their history with the character and how over-the-top they depict him) but at the end, they manage to make him likable enough and form a connection with Jaime which is as satisfying as you could ask for I guess.

The way how Jaime is portrayed is also appropriate with him showing his classic kindness towards people, even his enemies which creates a solid dilemma with the villain he has to face. The best part comes towards the end once that Teri's connection to the future is addressed and we might, MIGHT see some actual resolution to the loose threads from Justice League 3001.

On the other hand, I don't like how inconsistent this book has been overall. Some issues were good, others not so much and considering the writers only have 1 issue left, I don't expect them to deliver a satisfying enough conclusion for the book, especially considering they're throwing their previous poorly concluded series, JL3001 into the bunch.

Scott Kolins' artwork is solid with a lot of details for the characters and settings as well as quite energetic feel.

Not sure what to expect for the next one but eh, let's hope for the better.
