A História se passa no "mundo real" em Boston, no ano de 1968. Então, seremos apresentados a Bruce Wainwright, um jovem garoto fã de quadrinhos, principalmente do Batman. Na trama a vida imita a arte e o menino, assim como nas histórias de seu herói, também testemunhará quando seus pais serão mortos durante um assalto. No entanto, neste mundo não existem super-heróis para defender os fracos e a justiça não é feita. A angústia e a raiva irão crescer nele, e Wainwright terá de encontrar uma maneira de enfrentar seus demônios internos em um mundo onde os super-heróis não estão lá para salvar o dia. 

Batman: Creature of the Night, apesar do título, não se trata de uma publicação sobre Batman, e sim da tragédia da vida real. da violência urbana e da tristeza de se perder os entes queridos. 

A série será escrita por Kurt Busiek (Astro City) e ilustrada por John Paul Leon (Mother Panic).

Registre-se que o quadrinho está em produção desde 2010. Na época Busiek, em entrevista à Newsarama em 2010, declarou:

“Superman: Identidade secreta era muito mais sobre auto-identidade e ficção científica, Batman: Creature of the Night é muito mais sobre Horror e coisas sombrias, porque … ele é o Batman!”

O primeiro volume de ‘Batman: Creature of the Night’ está programado para chegar às comics shops americanas em 29 de novembro de 2017 pelo preço de US$ 5,99.
