A kid has been telling that Superman is the one culprit of the chaos that is taking over Metropolis but there are much more mysterious people involved in it.
Brian Bendis takes over Action Comics and let's just say that it does read like a Brian Bendis comic.
For one, the story opens with one of the classic comedic moments that are so prominent from the writer which is focused on terrifying criminals because of Superman's presence which is fine in and of itself and Lord knows that sometimes humour is necessary in a lot of books to break the tension. THE PROBLEM is that this humour comes with Bendis' trademarked dialogue and the lines from the criminals start getting pretty annoying pretty quickly. This is not the only time when the narration is going to be problematic since another example is when a few villains are reunited and the dialogue gets pretty cluttered.
That being said, the plot progresses at a nice pace. The mystery about the connection between Superman and the fires gets solved a bit too quickly for my taste but this allows for the villains of the story to finally appear and show what they're planning for the city. However, I feel like there wasn't a lot of content in this issue, it went too fast.
Patrick Gleason's artwork is pretty great though. He always knows how to depict an imposing Superman and his storytelling is amazing.
Not bad, not great. Hope it gets better.
