Some thoughts about Aquaman #38
Atlantis' final stand is here.Arthur has done everything in his power to stop Corum Rath from destroying everything but is not enough and to defeat him he will need the help of his most loved person.
This arc finally concludes. Despite of my complaints about how long this storyline has been, I must admit that Dan Abnett knew how to keep entertaining most of the time and here he delivers an ending that is pretty satisfying all things considered.
The finale takes place after the events of this week's Mera: Queen of Atlantis (which explains why this particular issue was delayed) showing that the battle is about the be over in Rath's favor until Mera finally appears and all of this is pretty appropriate if you ask me since it finally reunites Arthur and Mera in a really strong way and shows how powerful they are working together. The rest of the cast also get a solid portrayal while the story progresses at a nice pace.
Even our favorite Trump parody, Corum Rath, receives a resolution that is quite adequate considering his roots, one that puts him at the same level from the people his depises and really, I guess most people wish that could happen in real life.
The final pages are even more exciting though since it puts Atlantis in a completely new direction and seems like everything Abnett has been doing in the title has been building-up to this.
Riccardo Federeci remains in art duties and his work is still really fitting for the fantasy tone the story took and he manages to make the monstrous creatures even more terrifying.
Good ending overall, hope the future is bright.
