Some thoughts about The Joker/Daffy Duck Special #1

Two of the craziest persons in the world are about to meet.

The Joker needs more people for his insane plans and now Daffy Duck has been forced to work into his madness.

Here we have yet another crossover while is serviceable enough, it still fails in comparison to the ones that I already covered.

Scott Lobdell offers this crazy crossover and delivers a few good jokes here and there. The Joker is his classic murderous self and the way how Daffy is incorporated into the plot is appropriate, although not very inventive nor amusing. There's decent characterization as well with The Joker showing a few interesting scenes and Daffy being portrayed in a decent way in comparison.

The thing is that this feels like wasted potential. An encounter between these two should be funnier, crazier and overall more entertaining than what we actually got. In fact the story ends way quicker than expected and didn't manage to feel satisfying in that regard.

Brett Booth's artwork can be a bit of a mixed bag but he does know how to make characters with presence and energy while creating erratic panels that feel right at place here.

The second feature written by old-school author Joey Cavalieri works much better. The idea of Daffy working as a psychiatrist for the Joker allows for a lot of entertaining possibilities and many of them are delivered while breaking the 4th wall constantly. Luciano Vecchio's cartoony artstyle is equally well-executed here.

Overall, not bad but the second feature is more enjoyable overall.
