Earth has been absorbed by the Phantom Zone and now Clark will have to find out a way to save his people but his hope is starting to disappear.
This story continues and is still decent at the very least aside from a few flaws.
Brian Bendis offers a new chapter playing with the ramifications of the last one about the entire planet being trapped in the Phantom Zone. Just like with the Man of Steel miniseries, I feel that Bendis does a solid job at creating good escalation and pacing for the terrible events that Clark is enduring, it makes you buy that this is a genuine threat and that is coupled with a solid amount of character work that shows how strong Clark can be as a person while also emphasizing all that has been lost so far.
The thing is that Bendis shows a few things that do concern me. For example, I'm not really sure if I like Rogol Zaar enough as an antagonist to appear so much and this seems like a typical problem from Bendis since he loves to use his pet characters repeatedly. What is a problem though, is the way how he portrays The Flash, for some reason Bendis decides to make him incredibly annoying, almost like a little kid who just became a superhero and it just doesn't work well.
But hey, at least we had Nuclear Man here. That's something.
Ivan Reis handles the art and is pretty solid as usual with beautiful and vibrant scenarios and expressive characters.
Interesting read for the most part, hope some aspects are polished though.
