Some thoughts about Justice League/Aquaman: Drowned Earth #1

Is the world destined to be conquered?

The Sea Lords continue to get control over the people of Earth and there's very little that Aquaman and the Justice League can do, especially when Arthur's archenemy gets in the middle of the fight.

Man, there's a lot to digest here.

James Tynion IV delivers a new chapter of this crossover and offers a lot of content from every angle. The way how this story moves is kinda erratic but at the same time, it progresses the plot a lot and shows how the differents heroes react to this particular threat, this would a pretty solid Justice League story alone in that regard but where this chapter especially shines is when it focuses on Aquaman and its mythos.

Yes, Arthur and his universe receive special treatment here and speaking as a fan of his book, I'm really thankful for it. Arthur's backstory is further explored adding new elements to his early days, Mera plays a key role in the story trying to defeat the forces of the Sea Lords along with Ocean Master and Black Manta is appropriately used in this fight as a way to stop Aquaman. The mythos are also expanded by showing new concepts and artifacts of Atlantis and how these can be utilized in this war. If you're an Aquaman fan you will get your money worth here without a doubt and even if you're not, you can appreciate the amount of content this issue delivers at least.

Howard Porter handles the art and is pretty solid thanks to this energetic style that is perfect for an event story.

Good read, hope things continue this way.
