Some thoughts about The Wild Storm #20
Superpowered beings are getting even more powerful. An army is about to destroy a whole town but a couple of incredibly powerful men will show them the way out.
This is yet another of those light reads but what happens here is so entertaining that I don't even care.
Warren Ellis continues his story and this time he works on the set-up he prepared in the last chapter. Apollo and Midnighter finally come into action and just as it was shown in the previous issue, it seems like Ellis is determined to give a bigger emphasis to Apollo compared to his past work. I mean, Midnighter still shows his classic traits of "defeating the enemies with just looking at them" and all that but Apollo shows a level of personality and confidence that were not present in his previous incarnations written by Ellis which is a nice change of pace for the character and his dynamic with Midnighter.
This comes at the price of the content as I said since this is pretty much a big fight but as I've also said before, Ellis knows how to create a cinematic action segment and the battle is pretty intense.
Jon Davis-Hunt knows how to depict those moments obviously thanks to his fantastic storytelling that creates and unique progression panel by panel along with a lot of detail.
Solid read, hope the next one comes sooner.
