The universe is about to end itself.

Darkseid's obsession with the Anti-Life Equation has created a virus that is spreading around the planets and taking over even their own heroes.



As most people should know already, this is pretty much "DC Zombies" and there's nothing really wrong with that. I'm a fan of both the superhero and zombie genres and combining them usually brings solid results as we have seen in Marvel Zombies. Plus, this is handled by Tom Taylor who specializes in creating strong moments and shock value so this project is pretty much ideal for him and this opening chapter starts decently enough.

The idea of the Anti-Life Equation bringing a virus that pretty much turns everyone into Zombies (especifically the ones from 28 Days Later) makes sense and the fact that is expanded by social media is some of the classic sorta shallow social commentary that Taylor does but is still adequate in this story.

The characterization works solidly. Taylor gets an accurate enough handle of the whole cast and even the little lines they have show their personalities clear enough (particularly a fan of how Ollie could read Bruce immediately) and Cyborg shows more personality here than in any of his most recent appearances so that's cool.

The plot is, well, Zombies so there's not much of a plot but the action is still exciting and the pacing is fast.

Trevor Hairsine and Stefano Gaudiano handle the art and is a bit messy and not that good looking but it gets the gore appropriately.

Enjoyable enough, let's see where it goes.
