Some thoughts about The Flash #71
The future has arrived to soon.Barry has just met his future self in a future that he needs to prevent and he will quickly realize that this is coming sooner than expected.
This storyarc continues and while slow, it shows interesting moments.
Joshua Williamson offers a new chapter where he explores the idea of the future and the threat that is coming. The connection between Barry and Future Barry (Not to be confused with the Future Barry from Robert Venditti/Van Jensen's run) is quickly established and showcases compelling moments of characterization based on well-known Flash history and mythos. Plus, is cool to see an obscure Rogue like the Turtle gaining a bigger importance in the storyline since I believe this is something that Geoff Johns kinda hinted at during his first Flash run (and this is not much of a surprise considering how much Williamson bases his work on Johns' run).
That being said, this chapter feels like an interlude for bigger events that are about to come which doesn't necessarily mean that is bad since I believe this was necessary to establish a few plot-points but that doesn't stop this from feeling a bit lacking in terms of plot-progression.
Howard Porter's artwork is fantastic thanks to his kinetic style that is perfect for the speed scenes.
Good read but I hope the next one has more progression.
