Some thoughts about Dial H for Hero #9
How can Miguel deal with the H-Dial?Miguel is trying to get used to his new life in Metropolis while also trying to ignore his recently-found fame as a superhero but both are the least of his problems since he's about to enter a much bigger universe.
Another issue, another creative entry.
Sam Humphries offers a new installment where he continues to play with the comic homages. There's the usual the references to other books, particularly indie books once that the H-Dial start delivering heroes focusing on tech gimmicks and even a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles parody (who are superhero parody themselves already funnily enough) which is always appreciated.
The character work is also solid since now Miguel is pretending he's not his secret identity which makes him look less interesting to his crush which was a bit surprising to me since I don't remember previous chapters referencing that Miguel was Gay, then again, I might not have been paying enough attention and in fact, I thought that Summer was the Gay one since the issue focusing on her was pretty blatant about it (Then again, both might end-up being Queer).
Joe Quinones remains in art duties and his work is still great at depicting expressions and pretty flexible at creating different styles for the homages.
Good read, can't wait for the next one.
