Can the Justice League rule over an entire race?
The team has just saved a planet and now its people want them to lead them but there might not be time for that since there are more threats on the way.
A new run begins and it quickly feels different from the previous one.
While Robert Venditti's run felt much more personal and character-centered, Spurrier's immediately seems more focused on a high concept direction. This seems pretty obvious from the early pages when a new alien world is introduced with its own races and history which is certainly an intriguing way to open a story and gives the book a creative sci-fi vibe that was missing for a while (and yes, I'm counting Scott Snyder's run here as well since his run was more derivative than actually creative).
The characterization is solid for the most part, is not the center point definitely but the lines the cast have seem on-point for the most part, particularly Wonder Woman who takes most of the spotlight here.
Aaron Lopresti handles the art and his work is classic in all the right ways with expressive characters and a vibrant look.
Interesting beginning, let's see how things go on.
