What are the Trickster's plans now?
Barry's ring has disappeared and he believes Axel is behind this but this could unleash a completely different scenario he was expecting.
A new run begins and while we all know this is basically a filler time before the upcoming direction for DC starts, I think this is still a decent opening.Kevin Shinick offers a story about the neglected Trickster, Axel Walker. This is funny because before Joshua Williamson's run, James Jesse was the one being forgotten but this one become much more important during that era while Axel got stuck in limbo meanwhile. It's pretty cool that the writer is respecting continuity like how Axel has a cybernetic arm because of his encounter with Grodd, this is something that I can always appreciate.
About the plot, seems fine enough. The Trickster tries to, well, trick Barry into thinking he has opened a proper business but of course things quickly go badly here. There's a lot of content in this issue while the characterization seems on-point. I was initially fearing that the author was going to regress Barry into his depressing self but he quickly got over it. The cliffhanger seems intersting as well.
Clayton Henry's art is solid with expressive characters and fluid storytelling.
Nice beginning. Let's see how things go on.
