Can Lex Luthor be the right ruler for his planet?
Lex has returned to his old ways since Superman came back and not even Lois Lane's involvement can't change the way he manipulates his own people.
Well, this story is going pretty much the way you would expect.Once again, Mark Russell delivers a political satire where he explores how people in power control everyone. This is exemplified by how Lex starts manipulating the media to make himself look like a competent ruler and Superman as the enemy of his world. As usual from Russell, there are a lot of comedic moments concerning the social commentary, about how Lex is just looking for himself and quite frankly, there's some fun about how over-the-top the villain can be in his position. There are good Lois and Clark moments as well.
That being said, I still don't quite dig this portrayal since I prefer Lex to be complex in his own motivations instead of being simply a spoiled child who is annoyed by Superman. Yes, this doesn't align with Russell's classic writing but I can't help but wanting more aside from a you-know-who parody.
Steve Pugh's art is fantastic as usual, there's a lot of detail in the expressions and storytelling he provides.
Fun read despite of some issues, let's see how things go on.
