Some thoughts about Crime Syndicate #2

Can the Crime Syndicate fight together against a common foe?

Starro has just arrived to Earth and Superwoman is the only one free from its control but he's willing to kill her own allies to defeat her enemy.

This series continues and is a little better than the first chapter at the very least but not without flaws.

Andy Schmidt delivers a new and more action packed chapter that, while is not particularly inventive, it offers a few entertaining moments. The installment revolves around Superwoman facing against the threat of Starro who is controlling powerful beings like Ultraman. This allows for fight scenes that flow at a really fast pace without being too erratic fortunately while also offering much more content than the opening issue. The references about the opposite nature of Earth 3, while simplistic, are appreciated.

The biggest issue that I have is how Superwoman keeps repeating how "men always think this about me, men always do this about that, etc." and yes, you might be thinking that this is a complaint about politics and all but not really, this is not a feminist issue since there isn't actually a feminist theme in the chapter, the problem is the repetition and how many times is brought over the course of the read. Almost feels like early Tom King was writing.

Kieran McKeown's art is vibrant and follows the quick action scenes nicely.

There's yet another second feature this time about Owlman and is even shorter than the last one but at least offers a few more creative twists about the "evil" nature of the character. Bryan Hitch's pencils are pretty detailed.

Decent enough, hope things continue to improve.
