Can Red Hood replace Batman as Gotham's protector?

In a future where Bruce is no longer present, Jason is forced to work with the Peacekeepers to protect the city but his family might not agree with that.

I wasn't really expecting to see more of Future State and to be honest, I wasn't really anticipating more of it since quite a few of the books were rather underwhelming. Then again, I just can't say no to Joshua Williamson as you should know already.

Williamson (along with Dennis Culver) follow the set-up that were created during the second features of some of the Future State Batbooks concerning Jason's more involved role in Gotham. What makes this different from those stories is that this is less focused on humour and follows a more serious tone which also fits Jason in some sort of way, particularly because how he feels responsible for the city and wants to save it in his own way which is more understandable considering the involvement of the new Batman.

What makes this similar as the backup features is that this chapter is also very action-heavy with a really fast pacing that makes the issue a really exciting read and fortunately, it still has a decent amount of content despite of the big emphasis on fight scenes.

Giannis Milogiannis handles the art and is one of the most important aspects because of the black and white format of the title and the artist does a great job at complementing such tone with a really kinetic style that doesn't need colors to be great to look at.

Solid beginning, no surprises there.
