Can the Justice League beat the darkness?

Darkseid and The Empty Hand seem unstoppable but even if the team manages to survive their battle, they still have a much more important mission, find Barry Allen.

The conclusion of this new miniseries by Joshua Williamson is here and while I had a few problems with the way how Infinite Frontier ended, I think this one is more successful at that despite that it follows the same path.

First of all, there are several plot-points going on here, many of them are solved here but even more are just set for the upcoming events that Williamson is planning. The difference between this ending and the one that Infinite Frontier got is that at least this feels like a more cohesive story by itself instead of just a prologue for upcoming stories (But hey, at the very least Williamson never promotes his books as "The next big story" as Scott Snyder did). Several interesting aspects going on here including bits of Darkseid's past, the true nature of The Empty Hand, Orion accepting his destiny, the team finally figuring out what happened to Barry Allen, etc. It's all satisfying overall in terms of content.

Of course, this also serves as a preview to what's about to come and I still find pretty interesting that they're including a character like Pariah in a much more relevant way than ever before which makes sense in context considering how he was a character that served no purpose aside from seeing world's die. Plus, of course, we see the return of many other important antagonists from DC's history.

Andrei Bressan and Jesus Merino share the pencils and they both do a solid job during their respective segments, especially Bressan who shows a completely different style in a different universe.

Decent conclusion. Hopefully the next event will bring an actual finale though.
