Who is the Black Beetle?

Ted and Michael have been fighting an enemy from the future for a long time but they will soon realize that the connection between them is closer than they imagined.

This series comes to a "fine" conclusion.

Dan Jurgens closes the door on these characters (for now) by bringing back one of the biggest mysteries from their stories. The identity of the Black Beetle was something that was never properly revealed since he was introduced (Pretty much since Geoff Johns' Booster Gold run more than a decade ago) and is something that a lot of fans have been asking for. Due to Jurgens' connection to such stories he seems like the right choice to finally make a resolution to such plot-point.

And the reveal is... okay I guess. Is not something really mindblowing but is logical at the very least due that Jurgens makes an appropriate connection to the protagonists while also creating the explanation that Black Beetle comes from Earth 3, an universe well-known for its evil counterparts, which makes it more understandable. All of this leading to a typical ending for a lighthearted adventure that promises more to come for the main characters, is a bit by the numbers but nothing bad.

Ryan Sook remains in art duties and his work is still pretty great with expressive characters, detailed scenarios and precise storytelling.

Serviceable ending. Hope to see more of the cast in upcoming stories.
