Can all the sidekicks be saved?
The final battle between Stargirl and the Childminder is about to start and Hourman might be the key player to decide this fight. The fate of some of the children might be something that they were not expecting though.
This miniseries comes to a conclusion and I must say that, while it leads to a much bigger story latter on, it does a solid job at creating a satisfying conclusion by itself.
Geoff Johns brings his final chapter by delivering a lot of fanservice and teasing what's coming next. There's a big emphasis on action here and this is cool because this has always been one of the author's strengths, the battle itself is quick paced and delivers a lot of exciting moments, most of those moments are actually character-based and they can be rather emotional at times, especially once that Wing accepts his inevitable fate and even offers references to the classic Seven Soldiers of Victory mythos. Is just good material that plays with continuity.
Oh yeah, but there are a lot of plot-points being planted for the Justice Society universe itself. One of the children turns out to be a greater threat than anyone imagined and it actually works well with the concepts of time travel that Johns has been using all this time, not to mention that it creates an interesting dilemma for the character itself about what kind of person he has to be. This will be intriguing to see being developed in the proper JSA book.
Todd Nauck remains in art duties and his work is still pretty great with a very energetic style that follows the action scenes perfectly and expressive characters that are still a great fit for the plot.
Solid ending. Can't wait to the see what's coming next.
