Some thoughts about Superman #13
What are Brainiac's plans?
Both friends and enemies of Superman have been captured by Brainiac and now Clark's only hope of saving them is to ask the aid of Lobo.
This chapter didn't progress the plot itself by a lot but there are a few interesting bits.
Joshua Williamson offers this installment to gives us some key moments. The dynamic between Superman and Lobo is a big part of that and Williamson does a great job at depicting their interactions as a solid rivalry and in fact this has been a main theme during this run, the idea of Clark working alongside some of his enemies as a way to redeem them and I believe that the writer is planning to create a pay-off in upcoming issues.
There's also Brainiac's involvement in all of this which leads to intriguing ideas like the return of the Czarnian race (and of course a city was captured by Brainiac) and how the many incarnations of Brainiac over the years are present here and all of them are working together, is the classic continuity details that you can expect from Williamson.
Rafa Sandoval handles the art and is solid with a vibrant style and expressive characters.
Decent read, hope the next one offers more revelations though.
