Some thoughts about Batgirl #32
Can Batgirl negotiate with a murderer?Cormorant is coming after another candidate and is up to Barbara to stop him without causing any more deaths but things are not going to be simple.
This story comes to a conclusion and it was satisfying overall.
Mairghread Scott delivers another chapter where she explores more of the themes she has been implementing during the course of this arc. The political tone continues to be prevalent but at the same time is accompanied by many action and suspenseful scenes once that Cormorant appears and threatens to kill everyone.
Mind you, I have a few problems here and this is mostly because of personal beliefs. Bard feels forced to kill Cormorant to stop him from murdering one of the candidates while Babs was trying to negotiate with him and for some reason this is took as something terrible and that we should be on Babs' side in this argument. The problem here is that we have seen that Cormorant can't handle any reason during his job, he almost killed Babs before and he most certainly was going to do it again no matter what she had to say, killing him was truly the only choice here, hell, is the kind of choice that bodyguards, cops and even normal people feel forced to take sometimes. It seems like this tries to fit into the more idealistic view of superheroes but it just doesn't fit.
That being said, it still presents and interesting dilemma and discussion as a whole.
Paul Pelletier remains in art duties and his work is still really good thanks to his expressive characters and clear storytelling.
Good read, hope the next one continues this trend.
