Some thoughts about Wonder Woman #64

Can Wonder Woman re-attain her normal life?

Diana is trying to have moments of peace along Steve but this won't last long since Veronica Cale is back for vengeance.

This is really not getting better.

While I enjoyed the last issue because of how distinct it was, it was mostly because it wasn't really a Wonder Woman story as much as a story about fun and weird creatures on the normal world. In this chapter G. Willow Wilson goes back to the basics and let's just say that is not really more impressive than her first arc. The inclusion of Veronica Cale is fine and her personality and motivations are appropriate, is cool that Wilson is willing to use a plot-point that was left hanging by Greg Rucka (along with many more) concerning Cale's daughter. The dynamics between Diana and her also seem appropriate.

That being said, this quickly devolves into derivate superhero fights and is not really interesting nor exciting to see. This doesn't come as a surprise though since Wilson's strengths were never classic superheroics and so they're the most boring part of the book.

Also, I'm not sure if I like Wilson's voice for Diana since at some points she seems to be more... egocentric than she should be, this is reflected during her conversations with Steve and can I remind you how boring Steve can be whenever he is in a relationship with Diana? Seriously, he hasn't been entertaining since the beginning of the New 52 when he was the leader of A.R.G.U.S. and single.

Jesus Merino's artwork is typical Jesus Merino's artwork, adequate enough but never really impressive from any angle.

Passable at best and that's really the saddest part of this run.
