Bizarre creatures are appearing once that people thought things couldn't get worse. Now, a group of kids will have to figure out what's actually going on.
The story is still slow but there are a few interesting tidbits.
Keith Giffen and Jeff Lemire deliver a new installment where they explore more about this world. There are intriguing aspects about this story being developed like different mysterious key characters who seem antagonistic so far meanwhile the main cast, the supposed Inferior 5, is further explored and their personality becomes a bit more entertaining and understandable.
One might think that at times this kind of change goes too far. Is like the writers didn't find any value in the comedic value from the original characters and instead decided to create an overly-serious take (which is not rare for Giffen considering his work on the series Threshold and Scooby Apocalypse), is not that this is bad but so far I think this book is trying too hard to distance itself.
Giffen's art can look rough but fits into the bizarre tone of the story and has decent storytelling.
I think I actually enjoy Lemire's solo second feature about Peacemaker due that it plays with how the war has played with the character's mind and Lemire goes his classic exploration that makes this premise intriguing. Lemire's art is also solid from a storytelling perspective.
Well, I'm digging Peacemaker's story at the very least, hope it continues to be good.
