Hal has just met with one of his old girlfriends just at the worst time possible since mysterious bird creatures are willing to destroy all humans.
This story continues and is still as Grant Morrison as you can get.
First of all, you get the inclusion of very, very, very obscure characters like Eve Doremus, an old love interest of Hal and this leads to a bizarre adventure that involves the hunt of strange avian beings who are treating humans the same way they treated them which is the classic commentary that you expect from Morrison which tries to paint everything in grey angle.
That being said, everything is sorta... boring. The antagonists are not compelling enough to waste an entire issue on them and this is the same for the rest of the characters, I usually appreciate Morrison's love of continuity but at the same time, Eve Doremus and the others are just there without much depth put into their characters. Not the only problem though since Morrison's bombastic dialogue is getting kinda awkward.
Liam Sharp returns to pencils and his work is still pretty good at depicting all the weird events and he follows the plot appropriately.
Average overall, hope the next one is better.
