Boy, this issue developed many plot-points.
Dan Didio goes solo this time to offer the most game-changing issue of this series. The characterization is pretty solid once again thanks to entertaining dialogue that depicts the cast perfectly, one of the best examples of this are the interactions between Derek and Tempus whose relationship has become much more enjoyable.
The best part comes from how this plot progresses. Derek's mother is investigating was happening with her son which leads her to a realization that she wasn't expecting and ultimately comes to a surprising final page that I couldn't have predicted and is going to change the course of this book in several ways.
I also love how meta the book goes. At one point Derek's mom complaints about one of her colleagues' "transgressions" and considering this is Didio who is writing it, I can't help but think that he is refering to a certain editor who used to work for DC Comics. Oh, and the parallels between Sideways and Spider-Man are explored in an interesting way like how the art replicates a few key moments from the classic hero and well, what happens at the end.
Carmine Di Giandomenico handles the art and his work is fantastic, making the story even better thanks to his unique style that reflect the energetic nature of the book perfectly.
Great read, hope the book keeps getting better.
